Pledge a pint

Keep your cash, please roll up your sleeve instead!

If you are preparing for a sponsored challenge this spring or summer, why not ask your nearest and dearest to pledge a pint?

The season for marathons, 10k runs, triathlons and other events is fast approaching and with it a surge in requests from family and friends for sponsorship. But if you are the one taking the challenge, please think about asking for a donation of a different kind. Why not ask family and friends to ‘pledge a pint’ and save a life? That donation could save or improve the lives of up to three people.

Marathon runner and super-fit dad of two; Sam Roden (pictured left; running the London Marathon, and below; in hospital), launched his ‘pledge a pint’ challenge after needing blood himself back in 2012 when he became critically ill with pneumonia.

In hospital, Sam received more than 30 units of blood. Once he was well enough, Sam launched his ‘pledge a pint’ initiative – and has now recruited over 500 new blood donors. The scheme was such a success that Sam was recognised in the Points of Light outstanding volunteers awards.

Will you continue Sam’s legacy and help save thousands more?

Ask your sponsors to keep their cash and roll up their sleeves instead.
