Every day blood donations save the lives of babies, mothers in childbirth and people having operations or suffering from medical conditions.
It's crucial we all have access to our own blood type. Specific blood groups are more common amongst people from the black African/Caribbean and South Asian communities and certain medical conditions requiring regular blood transfusions also have higher prevalence within these communities including Sickle cell Anaemia (black African/Caribbean) and Thalassaemia Major (South Asian).
Under 3% of all blood donation in the UK come from these communities. That's why we have launched the VIP Appeal - to meet the needs for the specific blood types within your own community.
We need you to be a VIP in your community and give blood. There is no health risk and you can donate blood every 16 weeks.
