Where to park

There is no parking for donors at the donor centre.

Leicester City Centre has several public car parks within walking distance of the donor centre. NCP St Nicholas Circle is the nearest to the donor centre.

Accessibility

The donor centre is wheelchair accessible with street level access. There are non-automatic double doors to the entrance of the donors centre, however our staff will open these for you.

Fully accessible toilets are available on-site.

Travelling to the donor centre

You can find the donor centre in the city centre, next to Leicester Cathedral.

If you are travelling by:

bus: the nearest bus stop is St Nicholas Circle, about an 8 minute walk from the donor centre.
train: Leicester station is about a 20 minute walk away from the donor centre
bicycle: there are bike racks located on street near the donor centre, but please be aware that this is not a secure bike parking facility.
car: there are several public car parks within a short walk of the donor centre. Please be aware that parking charges apply.

At junction 22, take the A50/A511 exit to Leicester/Coalville.
At the roundabout, take the 1^st exit onto A50.
At the roundabout, take the 2^nd exit onto Leicester Road/A50.
At the roundabout, take the 2^nd exit onto Bradgate Hill/A50, continue to follow A50.
At the roundabout, take the 2^nd exit onto Groby Road/A50.
At the roundabout, take the 3^rd exit onto Leicester Road/A50, continue to follow A50.
At the roundabout, take the 3^rd exit onto Groby Road/A50.
Continue straight to stay on Groby Road/A50. Continue to follow A50.
Turn right onto Vaughan Way/A594. Parts of this road maybe closed at certain times or days.

The donor centre is open on weekdays, evenings and weekends, as follows:

What you can donate

Blood

An appointment to give blood takes an hour, with the donation taking around 5-10 minutes.

Your blood could help someone in an emergency, help save the lives of mothers and babies during childbirth, or help to fight sickle cell.

An appointment to give platelets takes around 2 hours, with the donation taking up to 90 minutes.

Your platelets could help someone combat cancer or recover from losing a lot of blood after an accident, organ transplant or surgery.
