Plasma Perks

Plasma Perks is our new annual challenge for plasma donors, that recognises the ongoing contribution our donors make to saving and improving lives.

All plasma donations from 1 May 2024 will be included in the Plasma Perks scheme. When you reach certain donation milestones you’ll receive a token of appreciation from us, to say thank you.

Plasma Perks is running alongside our donor recognition scheme, and anything you receive through Plasma Perks will not affect your donation credits.

What are the perks?

After completing your donation for each milestone, you'll receive the following perks:

2 donations

After you've completed your second donation, you'll receive a keyring which also doubles up as a phone stand. Perfect for watching your favourite TV show during your next donation!

This shopping bag is plastic free and made from natural cotton, which is fully recyclable and biodegradable. The long handles make this perfect for putting over your shoulder.

More information about Plasma Perks

How are donations counted for Plasma Perks and what happens to my donation credits?

Plasma Perks is an annual challenge starting from the 1 May 2024 and ending on 30 April 2025. Only donations that are given within these dates will count towards the scheme. But don’t worry, we’ve still got a record of all the donations you've given previously, and your donation credits won’t be impacted. During the 12-month trial, all donors will continue to gain the usual credits for each donation. The existing donor recognition scheme will continue during the trial and all donors that reach a milestone during the trial will still receive the appropriate reward in the post.

By starting the Plasma Perks challenge from 1 May 2024, all donors will have the same opportunity to complete the scheme and collect the perks, regardless of how many donations they have given previously. This allows new donors to participate in the challenge too.

How do I sign up to be part of Plasma Perks?

You don’t need to do anything to receive your perks. All plasma donors will be automatically included in Plasma Perks and we’ll keep track of all the donations you give from 1 May 2024. When you have completed a plasma donation that hits one of the milestones, the donor centre teams will give your Plasma Perks item to you before you leave the centre.

If you are an existing blood donor and want to try plasma donation find about more about changing to plasma donation.

I’ve become a plasma donor after the start date, can I still participate?

Yes, all new and existing donors can participate in Plasma Perks at any point from the 1st May 2024. The trial will run for 12 months and will end on April 30th 2025. All donors that reach any of the milestones before the 30th April 2025 will receive perks.

I was unable to successfully donate, do I still receive a perk?

Unfortunately not. During this trial the perks are awarded for successful or partial plasma donations only.

Why are plasma donors receiving perks but blood and platelet donors are not?

Plasma Perks is a 12-month trial that we are testing within plasma because we need attract new donors, grow the donor base, and get our existing donors to donate more frequently. We will use the learnings from the trial to determine whether we should roll a scheme out for blood and platelets.
