Boosting iron with BOSH!
This year, we are set to launch our partnership with BOSH! co-founders Henry Firth and Ian Theasby.
BOSH!, one of the UK’s most influential plant-based food brands, was created by childhood friends Henry and Ian with the aim of demonstrating just how easy it can be to eat more plants.
Now, their recipes have been viewed by over half a billion people, they have sold over 1 million cookbooks, and they have products in major supermarkets around the world.
The partnership will help NHS Blood and Transplant to inspire more people to give blood while highlighting the importance of a healthy diet for donors.
BOSH! have created an exclusive eBook for donors, packed with iron-rich, plant-based recipes, which have approved by the British Dietetic Association.
Before you donate, we test your blood for haemoglobin levels. If your haemoglobin is below a high-level threshold, we will ask you not to donate for a few months as a safety measure. To make haemoglobin it is important that you eat enough iron-rich food every day.
Iron sources typically include fish and meat, but there are plenty of plant-based foods that boost your iron levels, too. You can read our iron-rich diet guide here.
To mark the campaign, BOSH! founders Henry and Ian have rolled up their sleeves and donated blood. You can watch their donor journey across BOSH! and NHS Blood and Transplant social media channels.
The partnership will go beyond raising awareness: helping to encourage healthy habits, support better nutrition for donors, and show how working together with brands can drive positive changes in public health.
Keep an eye out for the eBook on our website.
