Certain medical conditions can prevent you from becoming a blood donor.
Have you ever been diagnosed with any of the following medical conditions?
- Cancer - unless previous basal cell carcinoma or carcinoma-in-situ for which treatment has finished
- Haemophilia or other bleeding disorder
- Stroke
- Diabetes (unless controlled by diet alone)
- Epilepsy (unless you have been free of seizures and off medications for epilepsy for the last 12 months)
- Pulmonary embolism (blood clot on the lung)
- Coronary artery disease (blocked arteries in the heart, angina, heart attack), heart failure, bypass surgery or heart valve replacement
